"Seven Sisters Falls - Dad's favourite place to fish before he got his boat."

"In 1978 Dad and Mom bought a 14.5 foot Aeroliner boat for $500 and a trailer for $400. They then bought a 45 hp motor
from Uncle Ken for $125. Dad rebuilt/replaced the seats and floor before buying a larger windshield and a custom-made
cover at Aeroliner for $275. The original color of the boat was turquoise, but Dad and his friend Glen repainted it. A year
later Opa gave Dad an axle and two 16" wheels so Dad could build a larger trailer to better support the weight of the boat.
He also built new bunk boards for the larger trailer. Over the next 10 years Dad fished at least two days a week before selling
the boat. We all had fun fishing in the "UKE II"...and we also enjoyed riding down the Red River to Lockport for ice cream!"

"This was Dad's favorite camping/fishing spot from 1978 to 1988. You go by boat
through Sturgeon Falls at Lake Nutimik, then 'up' the Winnipeg River for 5 miles.
Dad caught his 27 lb. sturgeon about 25 feet to the right of where his boat is docked."

*** Nopiming Lodge at Bird Lake - July 17-19, 2013 ***

"Dad always enjoyed fishing at Bird Lake...and so did we...so after a 15 year hiatus
he took Uncle Ken and his friend Peter on an all-expense paid 2 1/2 day fishing trip.
They had a great time with great weather and caught over 55 walleye and northern pike
while they were there! Dad especially enjoyed the breakfasts that Uncle Ken made!"

*** Lac du Bonnet - August 6, 2014 ***

"Dad was invited to go fishing in Lac du Bonnet with Uncle Ken and his friend Lorne.
The 18 1/2 ft. boat...with its 220 hp motor...travelled up to 57 mph on the water! The
weather was great and the walleye fishing was above average for a warm summer day!"

"Dad was again invited to go fishing with Uncle Ken and his friend Lorne, this time in
Pine Falls. They each caught some nice-size walleyes (up to 5 lbs.) on that chilly October day!"

*** Red River - October 15, 2015 ***

"On his 64th birthday Dad went fishing again with Uncle Ken and Lorne.
Although it was cold and they experienced rain showers and sleet, particularly when
travelling at 50 mph back to the boat launch, they had a great day...catching over 75 fish!"

*** Red River - October 22, 2015 ***

"In sunny and +13°C weather, Dad and Uncle Ken went fishing in East Selkirk.
It's the first time they fished together from the riverbank on the Red River in over 30 years.
During the 6 hours of almost suntanning weather they caught 8 walleye, 13 sauger and 1 goldeye."

"They also went again on November 10 when it was cloudy, windy and +4°C,
and in 4 hours of non-suntanning weather they caught 5 walleye and 10 sauger."

*** Grindstone Provincial Park - July 23-25, 2016 ***

"Dad spent a few days with Sharla, Cory, Will, Charles and James at their cabin in July. While there,
he took Will and Charles fishing, but only Dad had any luck catching a few fish...including a 22 in. walleye
and an award-size 19 in. bullhead, both caught a few hundred yards from the beach swimming area!"

"Dad spent a few days with Luke, Carla, Kain and Keona at the Bergen/Penner cabin in the last week of August.
While there, he went fishing one evening and caught a nice-size freshwater drum off the 'point' near the cabin beach area."

"Some days the weather was pleasant, other days it was bitterly cold...but for the most part
Dad enjoyed fishing for walleye, sauger and goldeye during September, October and November."
