"Dad took Will fishing on the Red River near Selkirk, MB, from Noon to 8:00 pm on August 24.
Fishing was rather 'slow', but they certainly enjoyed the great weather and catching a few fish.
Will caught a nice-size Freshwater Drum ('silver bass'), but the highlight of his day, after 40 minutes
of relentless casting, was catching a Northern Pike! Dad had never seen nor heard of a 'jackfish' being
caught in that area (sandy/clay riverbed...no habitational weeds for Northern Pike), so he was shocked!
Both had many 'bites' that day, including one from the wasp that got Will on the outside of his left hand!
Although Will didn't catch another fish by casting, Dad managed to catch 2 nice-size Walleye, 2 Freshwater
Drum, a goldeye...and a White Bass that was 14 inches long, 3 inches short of the Master Angler award-size!"
