"Grandpa Wayne took me fishing on the Red River near Selkirk, MB, from Noon to 8:00 pm on August 24th.
Fishing was rather 'slow', but we certainly enjoyed the fabulous weather and catching different kinds of fish.
I caught a nice-size Freshwater Drum ('silver bass'), but the highlight of my day, after 40 minutes of relentless
casting, was catching a Northern Pike! Grandpa said that he had never seen nor heard of a 'jackfish' being caught
in that part of the Red River (sandy/clay riverbed...no habitational weeds for Northern Pike), so he was shocked!
We both had numerous good 'bites' that day, including one from a wasp that got me on the outside of my left hand!
Although I didn't catch another fish when I was casting, Grandpa managed to catch 2 nice-size Walleyes, 2 Freshwater
Drums, a small goldeye...and a large White Bass that was 14 inches long, 3 inches short of the Master Angler award-size!"
